In today’s fast pace of technology when the new gadgets are flooding the market every other day, there are still crazy people who are so impatient that they can’t afford to wait for their desired gadget to arrive in scheduled time and pay the premium to grab it at the first available opportunity. To take advantage of this impatience and craze of few hyper buyers, some unscruplous traders are bringing new iPhone 5 in illegal manner into India and are selling at almost the double the price to make quick bucks.
Even online shopping portal – eBay has started selling the new iPhone 5 at a premium and has listed the following prices on its website:
- 16 GB for Rs 59,990
- 32 GB for Rs 67,990
- 64 GB for Rs 76,990
Apple is expected to launch its new iPhone 5 officially in India in November or latest by December, 2012. Currently, this device is available in the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and the UK, and was released in 22 more countries on September 28, 2012. Apple has sold more than 5 million units of the iPhone 5 in the three days after it hit stores.
But the question here is that is it worthwhile to pay premium to buy a smartphone even if it happens to be iPhone 5? No sane person would like to shell out hefty premium to buy a device, the sole purpose of which is to send and receive calls and use some apps. There are plenty of other good devices available in the country like Samsung’s Galaxy series, LG’s Optimus and Sony’s Xperia series of smartphones. Even if somebody is die-hard Apple fan then he or she should wait for official launch and should buy this device from an authorised dealer for warranty implications.
Moreover, Nano SIM card which is used in this device are still not available and as far as our knowledge goes, the same will be provided by service providers through authorized dealers only. Even if you buy iPhone 5 by paying premium, you would not be able to use it. So, if you are ready to pay premium for a small piece of aluminium and glass then go for it and block your precious money!
