The list is personalized, including topics based on things you’re interested in and what is trending across Facebook overall. Each topic is accompanied by a headline that briefly explains why it is trending. You can click on any headline to see the most interesting posts from your friends or Pages that are talking about that particular topic.
According to Chris Stuhar, a software engineer at Facebook who works on the site’s news feed, said the feature is designed to uncover the most interesting content across the site and fits into the company’s broader effort to make Facebook “your personal newspaper.”
Trending feature is currently rolling out on web in select countries, but the company said it is testing the feature in its app for smartphones and tablet computers.
