IQOO3- First Hand Impressions

IQOO which is an independent brand of Vivo, has forayed into India today with a bang with the launch of their first flagship phone, IQOO3 which is future ready for 5G support. This phone comes in two models – 4G compatible and 5G comptible. This phone has all the ingredients to take on with the established brands such as OnePlus and Samsung in the higher echeleons of smartphone space. I have the opportunity to lay my hands on this phone for few days and was quite thrilled to use this phone.

Design

This phone looks quite attractive as its body has aluminium frame and glass on the rear cover with protection of Corning Gorilla Glass 6. On the left side of rear panel there is set-up of quad camera with LED flash and IQOO branding is given at the bottom on the left side. On the right side of the frame, orange colored power button is given and on top of it is volume rockers. On the top and bottom side of the right frame, you will find two pressure-sensitive Monster buttons for quick multi-finger operations when you are playing games. These buttons provide better grip and comfort. On the left side of the phone, there is smart button and at the bottom, Dual SIM slot, USB Type-C slot and speaker grill is given. Their is 3.5 mm headphone jack at the top.

Display

This phone flaunts a 6.44 inch FHD+Display (1080×2400 pixels, 409 PPI) with support for HDR 10 with protection of Schott Xensation UP on the front and Corning Gorill Glass 6 on back. It has SUPER AMOLED screen which is called Polar View Display having a front camera on the right side of the display, which is smallest in the segment. The display is quite vibrant and produces bright colors with very good sun visibility and good views from all angles. You will love playing games and watching media content on the screen.

Vivo is one of the first vendors to equip this phone with the latest Snapdragon 865 procesor with Adreno 650 GPU. It comes with 8/12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 128/256GB UFS3.1 of internal storage. This phone is packed with 4400mAh battery with 55W super flash charge which is claimed to charge 0 to 50% battery in just 15 minutes. I have observed that the battery lasts easily for full day even if you are heavy users and charges from zero to full in less than 30 minutes. During my limited usage, the performance of the phone is excellent and you will enjo playing games on this phone without any hiccup as it come with various features for smooth gaming experience such as CarbonFiber Liquid cooling technology to keep the phone cool even in extensive gaming sessions, Monster Touch Buttons on the side frame to help users achieve quick multi-finger operations while playing games. IQOO3 also boasts of 180Hz Super Touch Response rate which improves the screen touch scan frequency by 50% from standard 120Hz for enhancing the gaming experience. For gaming, this phone also has features of Ultra game mode and 4D game vibration.

Camera

This phone is armed with quad camera set-up comprising of 48MP primary camera with Sony IMX586 sensor and f/1.79 aperture, 13MP Telephoto lens with f/2.46 aperture and 20x digital zoom, 13MP super wide-angle lens with f/2.2 aperture and 2MP Bokeh camera with f/2.4 aperture. The rear camera set-up comes with various features such as Super night mode, Super Anti Shake, Portrait bokeh, AR stickers,Super wide-angle, Super macro, SLO-MO and Time-lapse for videos, PRO Mode, Panorama, AI Scene Recognition to name a few. I have captured few images with this phone which are reproduced below and which looks quite detailed and vibrant despite the fact that these have been compressed for inserting here:

For selfie, this has 16MP front shooter with f/2.45 aperture with features of Super night selfie, Portrait bokeh, AR stickers etc, and produces good images.

For security, this phone incorporates latest gen in-display fingerprint sensor which is very quick and unlocks the phone in 0.29 seconds. Face unlock feature also work very efficiently.

The IQQ3 runs on IQOO UI based on Android 10 for smooth experience. The UI has Monster Mode for gaming. For an immersive audio experience, this phone is equipped with AK4377A Hi-fi audio chipset.

This phone is bulky having wight of 214.5gms and comes in three colors of Volcano Orange, Tornado Black and Quantum Silver.

This phone has impressed me with its performance, battery and camera quality. The price of this phone starts at Rs. 36,990 for 4G variant having 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage.
