In a surprising development, Chinese giant Huawei has announced today that they have entered into partnership with Micromax to distribute its smartphones in India. This is win win situation for both the companies. This will give an opportunity to Huawei to expand its presence in offline markets through the retail outlets of Micromax.
According to Huawei, this partnership will enable them to be present across the country starting from cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Kochi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Dehradun, Kolkata and Jaipur amongst others in a phased expansion plan. Currently, Huawei sells through retail partners and will now reach out to its existing and potential customers across the length and breadth of the country.
This arrangement will enable Huawei to concentrate much of its energies on R&D as they have state-of-the-art R&D centre in Bengaluru. Huawei’s R&D in India is driven by local talent who contribute significantly towards technological innovation, with a singular focus on offering unparalleled experience to the consumers. This arrangement will also give an opportunity to Micromax to remain relevant in smartphone segment as their sales is dwindling of their own phones plus it will also be revenue generation business for them. Huawei has range of smartphones in their portfolio to meet expectation of all the segments. Huawei is on the verge of launching Y9 mid-range smartphone in India most probably next week.
