The main advantage of buying the smartphone running on pure Android is that the moment the new update comes, Google starts updating it promptly. Unfortunately, this luxury is not provided by those companies who superimpose their own OS on Android and takes months to update to the latest versions and some companies just ignore the updates.
However, the smart buyers of Motorola’s Moto E, Moto G and Moto X shall be pleased to learn that Motorola will update their smarttphones with the latest version of Android KitKat 4.4.3, which was announced yesterday. Steve Horowitz, SVP, Software Engineering, has mentioned in Motorola blog that “we are excited to announce some icing on top of the, well, KitKat. Starting today, we are rolling out Android 4.4.3, KitKat, which was just released by Google.
He has given further schedule of updating in the blog as follows :
Moto X T-Mobile users
Moto G users who bought online in the U.S. (includes Moto G 4G LTE) and at retail in Brazil
Moto E users who bought online in the U.S
He has not clarified when the other global users will start getting updates, but it is expected the same will be done very shortly.
This latest software update of Android KitKat 4.4.3 has following salient features :
- improved dialer with a new interface and new colors to enhance consistency and usability
- improved camera image quality for Moto X including better consistency of exposure, more realistic flash coloring, and improved photos in low light conditions using front camera
- For Moto X and Moto G, pausing for video recording with a convenient pause/resume button on the viewfinder
