It is being rumored for quite sometimes now that Nokia will be entering into the world of phablet segment and would be announcing its first large size Lumia 1520 smartphone at an event in Abu Dhabi on 22nd October. This smartphone is expected to sport 6-inch 1080 pixel display, and will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. This phablet will come with 2GB RAM, 32GB of storage, and a microSD card slot.
Alongside the Lumia 1520 phablet, now the news of Nokia’s plan to introduce its first Windows 8 tablet has emerged. This news has emanatated from the relaible sources of @evleaks, which specialises in leaking the upcoming product with its features and images, and most of the time their information turn out to be correct. This time @leaks tweeted the image of upcoming Nokia Lumia 2520 tablet in cyan color. They furthe claim that this tablet will also come in Black, White, and Red besides Cyan, and would be priced around $ 499.
This tablet will have Windows button in the centre and volume buttons on the side. The Windows RT-based Lumia 2520 tablet is rumoured to have following specifications :
- 1080p display
- quad-core Qualcomm Processor
- 6.7-megapixel camera
The hardware specifications may be much higher, but the moot question is the timing of introduction of the tablet by Nokia. We have written earlier in our various blogs that Nokia is far behind in bringing out the tablet and now, when the company has been bought by Microsoft and there are many players in tablet segment, it would be extremely difficult for Nokia to make a cut in this highly competitive and crowded segment. Let us see how this lae entrant product can be made successful by Nokia. Provided, Nokia has some magical plans up its sleeves to make its tablet successful, the chances of its getting desired attention appear to be bleak. Had they introduced this tablet around one year ago, the story and prediction would have been different. It is too late now.
