Xiaomi has launched today Redmi 8, successor of the Redmi 7, in India. This phone comes in two variants of 36GB RAM + 32GB of storage priced at Rs. 7999 and 4GB RAM +64 GB of storage priced at Rs. 8999. It will be available in Ruby Red, Sapphire Blue and Onyx Black colour variants starting 00:01 AM (midnight) on 12th October via Mi.com, Mi Homes and Flipkart. It will also go on sale across offline stores soon. The first 50 lakhs buyers of Redmi 8 will be able to buy the 4GB + 64GB variant at INR 7,999.
The Redmi 8 sports a 6.22-inch (1520 × 720 pixels) HD+ display with 19:9 aspect ratio and protection of Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It is powered by Octa-Core Snapdragon 439 processor with Adreno 505 GPU. It comes in two versions of 3GB RAM with 32GB storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage. Internal storage of both the variants can be extended upto 512GB with microSD card. This phone is packed with 5000mAh battery with 18W fast charging but you will get 10W charger in the box and will have to buy 18W charger at an extra cost.
This is Dual Nano SIM supporting phone and has dedicated slot for microSD card. It runs on Android 9.0 Pie with layer of MIUI 10. For security, this phone has fingerprint sensor on the rear and comes with splash resistant feature having P2i coating.
For imaging, this phone is equipped with dual rear cameras comprising of 12MP camera with LED flash, Sony IMX363 sensor, f/1.8 aperture and 2MP camera. For selfie, it has
8MP front shooter with f/2.0 aperture. The rear camera set-up has features of Dual Pixel autofocus and AI scene detection for up to 33 categories.
