Samsung Announces Chromebook 2 Series; To Be Available From April

Samsung Electronics has announced today the launch of the Chromebook 2 Series in 11.6- and 13.3-inch screen sizes, which will go on sale in US from April for $319.99 (11.6 inches), while the 13.3-inch model will be available for $399.99.

The Chromebook 2 series is sleek and elegant in design.  The 11” model weighs just 2.5 pounds and it is lightweight to carry. The lid features the stylish stitched design of the Samsung GALAXY Note 3, which adds to the sophisticated look.

“Since we introduced our first Chromebook in 2011, Samsung has been committed to continually developing our designs and features to meet our users’ ever-changing needs, while staying true to the core Chromebook attributes of simplicity, speed and security,” said Mike Abary, senior vice president of consumer IT product marketing at Samsung Electronics America. “Samsung has been the top selling consumer Chromebook brand for the past three years and we’ll continue to grow our leadership position in this space with the launch of the Chromebook 2 Series.”

The new Chromebooks 2 are equipped with Samsung’s Exynos 5 Octa processor, which has been clocked at 1.9GHz in 11.6-inch model and 2.1GHz in 13.3-inch model. Both the models are equipped with 4GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, 720p HD webcam, and GoogleChrome OS. These devices have battery life of upto 8.5 hours.The 11.6-inch model has a 1366x768p resolution display whereas 13.3 inch model comes with full HD 1920x1080p display.

The Chromebook 2 Series comes preloaded with a software package valued at more than $100. It includes smartphone access and data management service Air Droid Premium, task management and collaboration app Wunderlist Pro, and LittleBridge.com, an English learning app.
