Ubuntu 9.10 Set To Release On October 29th

The eleventh release of the Ubuntu series i.e Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala) is set to release on October 29 this year which will feature the latest GNOME 2.28.0 desktop environment. After trying the demo version i think this 9.10 release is having a lot to offer and may take Ubuntu to a new level. The  new version offers 17 new wallpapers and they look promising enough. But i am a bit disappointed with the window border and the default wallpapers as they look very boring.

Here is a  screenshot of the default theme

The new icons look really cool and at least they add a different look to the desktop. The latest GNOME 2.28.0 desktop environment includes the first release of the GNOME Bluetooth module to help users manage their Bluetooth devices and to connect to the Internet through your mobile phone. Apart from the bluetooth enhancements exists a wide variety of other cool features like a Time Tracker applet ,

Empathy Instant messenger ,Epiphany web browser ,media player improvements ,etc. The developers also claim to fix a large number of bugs which were  a problem for the users in the earlier versions. Ubuntu 9.10 Beta includes the 2.6.31-11.36 kernel based on 2.6.31.1. The kernel ships with Kernel Mode Setting enabled for Intel graphics.
