At an event in Mumbai, Vivo has launched its selfie-focussed V5 smartphone in India. Vivo V5 is priced Rs. 17,980 and will be available in Crown Gold and Grey colour variants. This phone can be pre-ordered in 22 cities from 16th November to 25th November and will start selling from 26th November.
The major highlights of V5 is its 20MP front facing camera which comes with an f/2.0 aperture, Sony IMX376 sensor and 5P lens. For capturing good selfies even in low-light, this phone has been provided with Moonlight Glow flash. Vivo claimes that with this feature, you can capture perfect selfies without making them grainy, distorted or flooded with hard flash irrespective of lighting conditions. To enhance the selfie quality, this phone also comes with Face Beauty 6.0 app. This phone is also mounted with a 13MP camera on the rear with LED flash and Phase Detection Auto-Focus.
On the other hardware front, the V5 features 5.5 inch HD (720×1280 pixels) display with 2.5D corning gorilla glass. The display comes with an ‘Eye Protection Mode’ which filters out blue light to protect vision and prevents eye strain. It is powered by a 1.5GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6750 proessore combined with 4GB RAM and 32GB of inernal storage which can be extended upto 128GB RAM via microSD card. This phone is packed with 3000mAh battery without fast charging capability.
This phone also incorporates fingerprint sensor on the home button which is claimed to take 0.2 seconds to unlock. Vivo smartphones are known for quality audio output and true to its reputation, this phone also comes with Hi-Fi audio support (with the custom built AK4376 Hi-Fi audio chip). For multi-tasking, this phone also features a Smart Screen-Split feature which allows use of two apps simultaneously. For instance, the users can chat and watch videos simultaneously on one screen.
This is Hybrid Dual SIM supporting phone and offers connectivity options of 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth etc. It runs on Funtouch OS 2.6 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Like its previous V3 and V3 Max, the V5 also has metal unibody design which gives it premium look.
The V5 will compete with Oppo F1s which is also selfie-centric phone with 16MP front shooter and comes with 3GB RAM compared to 4GB RAM of V5. Rest of the features, design and even price are almost same.
