2

Brand Vivo of China is making waves in India with its selfie-focussed range of smartphones in the V5 series. Vivo had introduced V5 in the month of November last year at Rs. 18K which was a smash hit and then its premium V5 Plus with Dual camera set-up in the front in January this year which luckily is also getting good traction in the Indian market which we closely monitor. And Vivo V5s launched last month is basically an upgraded variant of V5 in which internal storage has been enhanced from 32GB to 64 GB and the rest of the hardware remains the same.

In the design aspect, you will love Vivo V5, Vivo V5s or Vivo V5 Plus at first sight as they resemble an iPhone 7 from the back cover and if their is no branding of Vivo, nobody can make out whether you are carrying Vivo or an iphone 7. Nobody will mind holding a beautifully designed phone with good quality of metal at a price of Rs. 19,000. It has curved design for good grip and you can easily hold it with one hand and also provides single hand operation. Nowadays everybody wants to flaunt a good looking device and Vivo V5s gives you an opportunity to do so. Not only design, this phone also has lot of compelling features to keep you ahead of competitive phones which may not be as attractive as this phone is.

The major USP of this phone is its 20MP front-facing camera with Moonlight Flash for clicking good selfies even in low lights. Moonlight flash is different from LED flash or a screen flash and enhances the selfie quality when you click the selfies in low light as it illuminates your face in such a way that you do not get unnatural glow. The selfies come out in real colors and tone even when you click the same in fading lights. It also comes with f/2.0 aperture and 5p lens and you can get wider selfies on it for accomodating lot of your friends in a single frame for a sort of panoramic shot. It also gives you an opportunity to embellish the clicked selfies with Face Beauty 6.0 app. The front camera can also record 1080p videos.

Vivo has put everything in its front camera which has Sony IMX376 sensor to address all your requirements of a top of the range beautiful selfies. If you are die hard fan of selfies then your search for good selfie phone should end with V5s. Some of the selfie images:

Besides awesome front camera, the V5s also boasts of a good primary camera which has sensor of 13MP with LED Flash, Phase Detection Auto Focus and  f/2.2 aperture. It is capable of capturing good photos in daylight with lot of details and contrast. Some of the images shot with the primary camera are reproduced below:

Besides praiseworthy imaging features, the V5s also impresses with its overall performance as it comes with a 5.5-inch HD dispaly with resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and 2.5D curved glass with Corning Gorilla Glass protection. Despite the fact that the display has resolution of 720p yet it is vibrant and you will enjoy multi media content on it. When you access the websites, you can read crisp text on it and sunlight visibilty is also good.

It is powered by 1.5GHz Octa-Core MediaTek MT6750 processor with Mali T860 GPU. It has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internals storage which can be extended upto 256GB. I have been using this phone for almost 15 days and have observed that it performs very well as far as multitasking is concerned and switching between the apps is very smooth. I have not faced any issues of heating or lags even while playing games. Vivo has optimised the processor very well with its OS.

This phone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with layer of Funtouch OS 2.6 which looks like iOS 10 and comes with very useful features like Smart Split multi-tasking and which performs very well.

I have like the battery capability of this phone which is packed with 3000mAh battery. Despite the fact that their is no provision of fast charging yet this shortcoming is compensated by its unusal long lasting feature. In my consatnat heavy usage of watching videos, lot of log ins to social media and acccessing my two email accounts and news sites, my phone has lasted from 12 to 14 hours which is quite remarkable and eliminates the need to carry with you powerbanks.

Vivo has always impressed me with its security feature of fingerprint sensor and this story continues in V5s also. The fingerprint sensor embedded on the home button never fails you and it unlocks the phone in less than 0.2 seconds. It is a great feature and inspite of my repeated usage to test its durability of consistent quality, the fingerprint sensor has passed the test with flying colors!

For music lovers, Vivo plays lot of attention to give you immersive audio experience on its smartphones. The V5s is equipped with Hi-Fi AK4376 audio chip which results in delivering loud audio with good control and without any distractions. This phone has good call quality and supports 4G LTE. I have used this phone on 4G Airtel/JIO and found that the signals connectivity to these networks is fantastic. This is Dual SIM phone and also offers other connectivity options of WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS + GLONASS, USB OTG.

To sum up, the V5s is for those who want good designed phone with selfie feature as its primay function and overall good performance. If you are searching for a glamorous phone and click lot of selfies then head on straight to Vivo offline or online store. Prices at Rs. 18,990 and available in Matte Black/Crown Gold colors, this phone is good value for money. Another plus point! This phone is readily available and you are not required to waste your precious time waiting endlessly for flash sales!
