Xiaomi Redmi 3S At Rs. 6,999 & 3S Prime Launched At Rs. 8,999

Xiaomi of China has launched today two new affordable smartphones in India – the Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime. The difference between the two devices is of RAM and internal storage capacity only. Fingerprint sensor is available on Redmi 3S Prime only. Rest of the features are same. The Redmi 3S comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage whereas the 3S Prime has 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The internal storage of both the phones can be extended upto 128GB via microSD card.

The Redmi 3S is priced Rs. 6,999 whereas the 3S Prime has a price tag of Rs. 8,999. Both the devices will be initially available exclusively on Mi.com and Flipkart with no pre-registrations. Redmi 3S Prime will be available starting 9 August from 12 Noon onwards, and Redmi 3S will be available starting 16 August.

Both the phones – Redmi 3S and 3S Prime – features a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display and runs MIUI 7 based on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). These phones are powered by Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430, 64-bit processor with Adreno 505 GPU.These are packed with massive 4100mAh battery.

Both the phones are equipped with 13MP rear camera with PDAF, LED Flash, f/2.0 aperture and has 1080p video recording capability. These two phones also house 5MP front-facing camera, f/2.2 aperture and 1080p video recording feature.

The other highlight of 3S Prime variant is that it incorporates a fingerprint sensor on the back, as shown above, with ultra-fast phone unlocking. Both the devices supports 4G LTE and VoLTE out of the box, covering all India LTE bands – Bands 3, 5 and 40.

The Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime are made in India under ‘Make in India’ initiative of the company. Xiaomi started manufacturing in India a year ago with Redmi 2 Prime. To date, over 75% of Xiaomi’s smartphones that are currently sold in India are made in India as claimed by the company.
