Unlike USA, Europe and China, where launch day of new devices of Apple are the talks of town and one can witness serpentine queues to get hold of the newly arrived Apple device. And sometimes excited customers do not mind to create riot-like situations to grab the device, as happened recently in China.
But, India, which has its own thinking and this market is very price sensitive, greeted arrival of new iPad with muted response. No festival like mood, empty stores and no buzz in social media. The day passed as any other day.
India has been one of the markets where Apple is struggling to find a firm foothold. The premium priced Apple products have to struggle hard for a sizeable market share in price sensitive India. The Indian market is witnessing a deluge of tablets, some priced as low as Rs 3,000 and the lowest priced New iPad costs 10 times of that.
New iPad features a new retina display, Apple’s new A5 Xchip with quad-core graphics and a 5 megapixel iSight camera and 1080p HD video. The new iPads are available in black and white colours. While the 16 GB model wi-fi models are available for Rs.30,500, the 32 GB model costs Rs.36,500 and 64 GB model Rs.42,500. The iPad wi-fi, 4G tablets are available for Rs.38,900 for the 16 GB model, Rs.44,900 for the 32 GB model and Rs.50,900 for the 64 GB model.
