After launching Xpreia Z flagship smartphone few days ago, Sony has unveiled two new mid-range Xperia smartphones – the Xperia SP and Xperia L. These phones were awaited for long and many thought that these two devices would be announced alongwith the premier Xperia Z, but Sony wanted to give maximum coverage to its Xperia Z and therefore announced these two mid-level smartphones today. Both these smartphones run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS.
The Xperia SP packs a 1.7GHz Qualcomm Dual Core processor, and has 8GB of internal storage expandable up to 32GB via miroSD card. The Xperia SP, which has a casing made of plastic and co-moulded aluminium, has a 4.6-inch TFT screen with Bravia Engine 2 technology, with a resolution of 720×1280 pixels. This smartphone has an 8MP camera and LED flash on the back and VGA snapper in the front. Besides supporting LTE, the connectivity features of this smartphone include 2G, 3G, 4G, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi and microUSB. This device has a 2,370mAh battery, which the company claims will enable the phone to offer a talk time of up to 10 hours and 25 minutes and standby time of up to 635 hours.
On the other hand, the Xperia L is powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm Dual Core processor, and has 8GB of internal storage expandable up to 32GB via miroSD card. This phone features a 4.3-inch TFT display having a resolution of 480×854 pixels, with a scratch resistant cover. On the back is an 8MP camera with LED flash, along with a front facing VGA shooter that can be used for video calls. This phone’s connectivity suite consists of 2G, 3G, Wi-Fi, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB 2.0. This phone comes with a 1750mAh battery, which the company claims will enable the phone to offer a talk time of up to 8 hours and 30 minutes and standby time of up to 498 hours.
Both these phones will come in red, white and black colour, and are scheduled to hit the retail shelves in the second quarter of this year. The company has not revealed the prices of these smartphones.
