Yesterday, Microsoft has announced the Windows Phone 8.1 update for Windows smartphones at their Build 2014 conference. On this occasion, Nokia has unveiled three new Windows Phone 8.1 smartphones- Lumia 630, Lumia 635 and Lumia 930. Microsoft has announced at the conference that the Windows Phone 8.1 update will be available for the entire range of Lumia Windows Phone 8, as an over-the-air (OTA) update this summer.This update will be called Lumia Cyan.Today in New Delhi, Microsoft organised an event to explain the features of Windows 8.1 update and also showcased Nokia Lumia 630 smartphone. According to Nokia India representative present at the event, the Lumia 630 will arrive first in India sometimes in the month of May or June.
Their is not much difference between Lumia 630 and Lumia 635 from hardware and software perspectives.The Lumia 630 will be available in Single-SIM and Dual-SIM versions with 3G connectivity whereas the Lumia 635 will offer 4G/LTE connectivity, but does not support Dual-SIM.The Lumia 635 is distinguished by a high-gloss finish and comes with swappable covers available in bright orange, bright green, bright yellow, and white and black.The Lumia 630 will come with a new matt finish and the same vibrant colours.
Rest of the specifications of Lumia 630 and 635 are same. Both the Lumia 630 and Lumia 635 feature a 4.5-inch FWVGA (480×854 pixels) ClearBlack LCD display with Gorilla Glass 3 with a pixel density of 221ppi. Both the devices are powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor coupled with 512MB of RAM and 8GB of built-in storage, which can be expanded upto 128GB via MicroSD card. For shooting, both the Lumia 630 and 635 are equipped with a 5-megapixel rear autofocus camera and no front shooter. They are fuelled by a 1830mAh battery.
The Nokia Lumia 635 and Nokia Lumia 630 have new speedy Word Flow keyboard, and come with pre-installed useful apps including WhatsApp, WeChat, Nokia Camera, HERE Maps, and free Nokia MixRadio.These two new smartphones also have ‘SensorCore’ feature which include exercise and exploration apps like Bing Health and Fitness, which provides real-time monitoring and data storing like steps taken, calories burned, and miles walked.
The Lumia 630 will start rolling out in May, beginning with Asia, Russia, China, India and Europe, starting at $159 for the single-SIM variant, and $169 for the dual-SIM variant. The Nokia Lumia 635 will be broadly available, including in the US, starting in July, from $189.
Since Lumia 630 will debut first in India, it is expected to be priced around Rs. 11,000 taking into cosideration the exchange rate prevaiing today.
