LG India has announced the availability of its latest flagship smartphone LG G Pro 2, which was unveiled in South Korea in February at MRP of Rs. 51,500/-. This smartphone is available in White and Titan Black colours.
“We launched the G Pro last year in the Indian market and received an exceptionally favorable response from consumers. Following the success of the G Pro, we are launching the new G Pro 2, with enhanced features, based on the feedback of our consumers. The year 2014, is going to be an exciting year, as LG plans to bring out a string of innovative devices, which will capture the imagination of users. By year end, we intend to take on 10% share of the Indian smart phone market.”, said Mr. Soon Kwon, MD, LG India.
The LG G Pro 2 sports a 5.9 inch full HD display with 1080×1920 pixels, with an extra slim bezel of 3.3mm, which LG claims is an industry-leading screen-to-frame ratio of 77.2 percent. This phablet is powereed by Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor((2.26 GHz Quad-Core), coupled with 3GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB of internal storage, which can be expanded upto 64GB via microSD card. This smartphone is equipped with 13MP rear camera with LG’s proprietary OIS (Optical Image Stabilizer Plus) technology. This device also has 2.1MP front camera.
The LG G Pro 2 has some advanced camera features including its capability to record slow motion HD video at 120FPS and it can also record in 4K. The other feature of the camera is a flash for selfie that reduces the size of the preview screen and adds a bright white background for more soft lighting in self-portrait mode. The camera is capable of taking up to 20 continuous shots and automatically edits them to create a video of the captured images. It allows users to select photos from their gallery to create a collage for easy uploading to social network sites.
The LG G PRO 2 is also equipped with high-power 1Watts, Hi-Fi sound speaker system, which LG claims is 30 percent louder than the previous G Pro. The LG G Pro 2 also comes with the Quad Beat 2 headphones that detail sound and provide excellent sound quality. This smartphone runs on the latest Android KitKat 4.4 OS, and is fuelled by a 3,200 mAh removable Battery. For connectivity, it supports Bluetooth 4.0,USB, Wi-Fi, and NFC.
The G PRO 2 incorporates a completely unique feature called Knock Code, which makes unlocking and using the G Pro 2 easier and more convenient than ever before. This is advanced version of KnockON feature that was first unveiled last year in the LG G2. Knock Code allows users to power on and unlock their G Pro 2 smartphones in one easy step by tapping their screens using one of 86,367 “knock” combinations.
The LG G Pro 2 has very useful UX features including dual browser that divides the 5.9 inch screen into two separate windows for multi-tasking. The Mini View feature allows the screen to shrink and gravitate towards the palm so that users can fully control the phone with one hand free from any hassle. The Content Lock allows the user to lock files, photos and memos. Moreover, the Quick Window Case 2.0 will enable you to call directly from the small window, take a photo and see the gallery with the flip cover on.
Interestingly, the official Galaxy S5 smartphone price is also Rs. 51,500 and it is another matter that the S5 is avaialble for Rs. 44,910 at flipkart. The G PRO 2 will give tough competition to Galaxy S5 and we are doubtful whether the G PRO 2 will be available at such a reduced price.
