Facebook is going to create history in another two hours as they are organising the first ever Q&A session from the International Space Station (ISS). The Facebook Q&A and a live video stream from space with ESA astronaut Alexander Gerst will take place at 6:25 PM IST on Friday, August 22. Facebook is the place where people connect with public figures to engage in conversation and follow current events, and this event will allow fans to connect with their heroes, even if they are in outer space.
According to Facebook, Alexander Gerst will take 20 minutes to answer questions of his fans in a live video stream from the International Space Stationon his Facebook Page. The exact time of the live stream will depend on the satellite connection and might be slightly delayed. After the video signal has ended, Alexander will do a 30-minute Q&A where he’ll respond to questions from fans on his Facebook page.
Facebook’s mission is to make the world more open and connected. As the exclusive partner of the European Space Agency (ESA) and Alexander Gerst, Facebook reaches new dimensions and shows: Facebook connects people, no matter where they are. Since going to space Alexander Gerst shares his impressions from the ISS with the world and his almost 100,000 Facebook fans on a daily basis.
As part of the “SocialSpace” event series a number of these Facebook fans will be able to get a glimpse of the everyday life of the astronaut at the European Astronaut Center (EAC) in Cologne. For the grand finale of the day they will be able to pose their questions live from the EAC to Alexander Gerst.
