Here comes Vivo! It seems all the Chinese smartphones makers want to invade the huge Indian market with their products.
After Lenovo, Huawei, Gionee, Oppo and Xiaomi etc, one more Chinese company Vivo has entered the Indian smartphones market today with their X series of smartphones and notably among them is X5Max, which is the slimmest smartphone in the world as it has thickness of 4.75mm and it beats Oppo R5 which has thickness of 4.85mm. Vivo claims that it has designed motherboard for the Vivo X5Max that is just 1.7mm thin.
The Vivo X5Max is priced at Rs. 32,980 and will be available in retail stores across India from today. Vivo has formed a strategic marketing and communication partnership with one of India’s biggest entertainment networks Viacom18 through its Integrated Network Solutions (INS) division to market its products in India.
The hardware features of Vivo X5Max are also quite impressive. This smartphone sports a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) Super AMOLED display, and is powered by a 64-bit Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor (quad-core 1.7GHz + quad-core 1GHz) coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB inbuilt storage, which can be extended upto 128GB via microSD card. It is equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and Sony IMX214 sensor and also houses a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for selfie lovers.
The Vivo X5Max runs Android 4.4.4 KitKat with the company’s proprietary Funtouch OS 2.0 UI superimposed on it. It has become a trend among Chinese smartphones makers to introduce their propriertary Interface on top of Android OS. This smartphone supports Dual-SIM and 4G LTE on both the SIMs. This phone house a micro SIM card and a nano SIM card. This smartphone is packed with a 2000mAh battery.
Being a new brand, we were expecting that Vivo flagship X5Max would be priced quite low, but probably Vivo is emulating Oppo, which has good smartphones, but are over-priced. Only the coming days will tell whether Vivo can be successful in India with its gamble of high pricing.
