Chinese handsets maker Vivo Mobile has completed one year in India and on this occasion, they have inaugurated their first manufacturing facility in Greater Noida, UP, near Delhi. Opened under the initiative of Make in India and Digital India of Government of India, this facility is spread in 30000 sqm and Vivo Mobile India has invested Rs. 125 crores on its first phase of investment.
The manufacturing facility in Greater Noida has a production capacity of one million devices a month and this will generate around 2200 jobs. In this manufacturing unit, Vivo will manufacture and assemble several new models such as Y11, Y21, Y15S to meet the domestic demand. These models of smartphones are witnessing a huge acceptance amongst the target group and the manufacturing unit will help Vivo Mobile grow its market share further.
Commneting on the launch, Alex Feng, CEO of Vivo Mobile India said ” The commencement of our first manufacturing unit in India marks a significant moment for us. We understand the vast potential and fast growth of the smartphone market in India —. We are dedicated to it with our efforts throughout the industry chain… we wish to make a solid step of Vivo India’s localisation and realise our dream of Make in India.”
Vivo has entered India in December 2014 and in a short span of time, has made steady progress in India. Vivo has launched its smartphones in X, V and Y series, which have received huge response and emboldened by its success, the company has invested in manufacturing its smartphones in India. Vivo smartphones are sold by 10,000 retailers across the country in 400 cities and in 22 states.
