Taiwan based HTC has unveiled its highly anticipated flagship phone – HTC 10. This phone will be available from late April 2016 in four colors: Carbon Gray, Glacier Silver Topaz Gold and Camellia Red depending upon the markets. HTC has not disclosed when this phone will hit Indian retail shelves.
Design : HTC 10 has all-metal body with chamfered edges. It has a slimmer look and the full-glass front merges seamlessly into the metal body. According to the company, the HTC 10 was subjected to more than 168 hours of extreme temperature tests, and more than 10,000 drop, bend, scratch and corrosion tests to test its sturdiness.
Hardware : HTC 10 features a 5.2 inch Quad HD display with resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and pixel density at 564 ppi (pixel per inch). The display comes with curved edge Gorilla Glass. This phone is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor with enhanced LTE and a new PowerBotics system, which improves battery life by 30%. This phone comes with 4GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage which can be extended upto 2TB via microSD card.
For India and other emerging markets, HTC 10 will come with Snapdragon 652 Processor and 3GB RAM. Rest of the features remain the same.
The HTC 10 gets its juice from 3000mAh battery and comes with quick charge 3.0 Rapid Charger which is capable of chargeing the battery up to 50% in just 30 minutes.
The HTC 10 also incorporates a fingerprint scanner in the front below the display that unlocks in 0.2 seconds and has been algorithmically designed to recognize you faster and more accurately over time, as claimed by the company.
Camera Features : HTC 10 also boasts of the best smartphone camera of 12MP (HTC UltraPixel 2 with 1.55?m pixel) with f/1.8 aperture lens, Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS), laser autofocus, BSI, and a dual tone LED flash. This camera has features of Face detection, Auto HDR, Hyperlapse. Slow motion video can be captured at 720P@120 fps and 4K video recording can be done with Hi-Res audio. This phone also houses a 5MP (1.34?m pixels) front camera with Autofocus, BSI sensor, Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) and ƒ/1.8 aperture.
Audio Features : HTC 10 comes with BoomSound Hi-Fi speaker which is on top of the display and a bass one positioned at the bottom of the phone. The HTC 10 boasts of Hi-Res Audio and comes with a headphone amp that delivers two times the power of a conventional headphone amp, upscaling capabilities that can take audio from 16-bit to 24-bit. Its new Personal Audio Profile system allows you to create a unique profile tuned to your individual hearing, dynamically adjusting sound frequencies to each ear. The HTC 10 comes with the best Hi-Res Audio certified inbox earphones which feature an 8 micrometer-thin aerospace polymer diaphragm and 70% oversized drivers to give you richer sound and twice the frequency range.
Software : The HTC runs Android 6 Marshmallow OS with HTC Sense on top. HTC has reduced the number of duplicative and pre-loaded apps and bloatware and integrated the best of both HTC and Google to create a more streamlined experience. The latest version of HTC Themes also provides access to thousands of professional-looking themes that come with their own icons, backgrounds and sounds and the users can customize the look of their phone.
The HTC 10 offers connectivity options of 4G LTE, NFC, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4 & 5 GHz) etc. Besides fingerprint sensor, this phone also has Ambient light, Proximity, Motion G, Compass, Gyro and Magnetic sensors.
PS : HTC 10 With Snapdragon 820 processor is priced $699 in US and will start shipping in the month of May. The price of HTC 10 with Snapdragon 652 coming to India and other emerging markets is not known yet.
