Xiaomi has launched today in India Mi Max 2 phablet which is the successor to the Mi Max that was launched last year. This phablet sports a huge 6.44-inch display. This is 2.5D curved glass screen with resolution of 1920×1080 pixels and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. This phablet has unibody metal design and despite its big form factor, it has thickness of 7.6mm.
This phablet is powered by octa-core Snapdragon 625 procesor clocked at 2GHz combined with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage which is extendable to 128GB via microSD card.This phone runs MIUI 8 based on Android Nougat.
One of the USP of Mi Max 2 is that it is packed with massive 5300mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 which is claimed to provide up to 18 hours of video playback, 57 hours of talktime, or over 31 days on standby. This phone’s battery can even charge other smartphones connected to its USB Type-C port. It is further claimed to be capable of charging 68 percent in one hour.
For imaging, this phablet has 12 MP Sony IMX386, 1.25-micron large-pixel camera sensor with F.2/2 aperture, PDAF support and dual-LED flash. For selfies, this phone is equipped with 5-megapixel front-facing camera with 85 degree wide-angle lens with Beautify feature.
For connectivity, this phablet offers connectivity options of 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS + GLONASS and USB Type-C. This phone supports Hybrid Dual SIM (micro+nano/microSD) and also incorporates Fingerprint sensor on the back and IR sensor for controlling TVs, set-up boxes, air conditioners and speakers etc.
This phablet comes with “One-handed mode” for navigating it with ease using just one hand. Furthermore, “Split screen” feature will be introduced shortly which will allow two applications to run in the foreground. For instance, a user can watch a video using the top half of the screen while replying to messages in the lower half.
The Mi Max 2 comes in Matte Black color and is priced Rs. 16,999. It also comes with 100GB 4G data for Reliance Jio customers. It will be available during the 3rd Mi Anniversary special sale on July 20 and 21, from 10 a.m. on Mi.com and Mi Home. Thereafte, this phablet will be available from Flipkart, Amazon, Tata Cliq and Paytm mall from July 27th and also from offline stores such as Poorvika, Sangeetha, BigC, Lot Mobiles, Ezone, Hotspot, Vijay Sales and Mi Preferred Partners across India on the same day.
