To make experience more fluid, OnePlus has announced that it will soon introduce Google Duo as a native function for video calls on its devices. This new feature will enhance video calling utility for its users thus providing OnePlus’ promise of refined, fast and smooth Android experience as stated by the company.
OnePlus will be rolling out stable OxygenOS software builds in the coming weeks, which will deliver a deeper integration of Google Duo on the OnePlus 6/6T/5/5T and eventually on the 3/3T with the Android Pie update.
In this build, Google Duo video calling capability will be integrated across multiple native functions such as:
Call Logs
Contacts
Dial Pad
Messaging
However, users will continue to have access to the traditional carrier video call option. The feature is already available in Open Beta builds of OnePlus 6 and 6T devices.
Prior to Duo intergration, OnePlus announced in 2018, the integration of Google Lens functionality on OnePlus’ native camera app. The integrated Google Lens Mode uses the phone camera to surface information about the objects through machine learning to provide more details and provide relevant search tags. The users can use the camera to scan QR codes and use the image recognition tool to get more information about things like books, buildings, and works of art, by simply tapping on it.
