Airtel has finally took a step forward and released a small guide for setting up mobile office/Net On Phone (NOP) on various handsets manually. From now on you’ll be able to setup internet connection on your Samsung, HTC, Blackberry, Apple iPhone without going into the trouble of contacting Airtel Customer service and requesting them for a way out.
Availability of OTA GPRS settings for newly launched mobile phone’s has always been an issue with Airtel (and others as well) but with this move, the nuisance of “googling” for handset specific appropriate Internet settings will end.
The below mentioned (refer image) manual settings are available for following:
- Blackberry 8800, 9780, 8320, 8520, 9300, 8110, 8120, 9500, 9800
- Apple iPhone 3GS (and iOS 5), iPhone 4 (iOS 5)
- HTC desire, vivid, sensation, amaze, magic, chacha
- Samsung B5510 Galaxy Y Pro, i896 Galaxy S Captivate, i9250 Galaxy Nexus, i677 Focus Flash, i937 Focus S
Tip: Though the above mentioned settings are limited to the smartphone’s mentioned above but since these are generic in nature and that mobile phone manufacturer’s rarely change the way their device connects with internet, I believe you’ll be able to setup internet (using these settings) on any smartphone apart from those given above.
