US online giant Amazon has sent out an invitation to the media for an event for Sept. 6 in Santa Monica at 10:30 a.m. As per unconfirmed reports, Seattle based company will announce new Kindle devices and other products in the press conference.
Many tech observers and blog posts have been speculating that Amazon would be unveiling sequel to the Kindle Fire 7-inch tablet that came out last November but was announced in September. This speculation has gained ground from the fact that Google has launched its Nexus 7 tablet last month and Apple is widely expected to soon enter the 7″ inch tablet game with mini iPad.
Another strong news being churned out by rumour mills is that Amazon may come out with five or six new Kindle devices, including a 10-inch model. If this news become reality then it could be in the form of a larger version of the Kindle Fire to compete with the iPad. This news has taken birth after Kindle reduced its price of its 9.7″ inch model.
Besides Kindle e-readers, Amazon sells lot of other products and the company may be planning to induct new products to its wide portfolio and there is strong possibility that the company may plunge into smartphone arena also. Amazon has a gloabal platform to sell its wares and after huge success of its Kindle e-readers, this online giant can take advantage of its global procurement experience and presence to push many products and pose stiff challenge not only to online retailers but also to some extent to established technology giants.
Let us wait till September 6, 2012 to see what Amazon has in store for its global customers!
