Indian handsets maker Micromax has today announced the commencement of online sales for A116 Canvas HD, in India. This is the first smartphone of the company with quad-core processor, and will be available through the company’s official website starting February 14, 2013 for Rs. 13,990. The company is claiming that delivery time for this smartphone will be about 5-7 working days.
The A116 Canvas HD sports a 5-inch IPS screen with resolution of 1280x720p,and a colour depth of 16.7 million. It runs on Android4.1 (Jelly Bean). It is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core MediaTek processor. Other features of the smartphone include 1GB RAM and 4GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card. It is a dual-SIM smartphone, which supports GSM frequency on both the SIMs.
The phone sports an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and multiple camera settings such as night mode, 4X zoom – to further enhance the superiority of the memorable moments. Connectivity features of the phone include 2G, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP and microUSB 2.0. Micromax has used a 2,000mAh battery in its newest phablet, Canvas HD.
Micromax A116 Canvas HD will compete with Samsung’s recently launched Galaxy Grand, which has similar features but is priced higher. Micromax has the price advantage and first time buyers or those who want to switch from their existing smartphones to big screen smartphone, can go in for this device if they have limited budjet. Other competitors of Canvas HD are Spice Stellar Pinnacle, Karbonn S1 Titanium and Lava Iris 501, which are available in almost same price range.
Micromax is giving tough challenge to all the domestic and multinational handsets makers and with its wide range of smartphones and tablets, it is luring all segments of customers to buy its products. In the coming months, Micromax is going to make life difficult for its competitors especially in budjet smartphones segment.
