Big screen and sleek phablets have now become trend in smartphone arena. Majority of smartphones vendors are now attempting to introduce new models with lowest possible thickness. Only a few days ago Huawei of China had launched its flagship the Ascend P6 smartphone having thickness of 6.18mm, which the Chinese company claimed to be world’s slimmest smartphone.
To beat the thickness record of Huawei, another Chinese company UMeox Mobile has launched UMeox X5 smartphone, which has a thickness of only 5.6mm,as reported by Taiwan based website Digitimes. The Umeox X5 features a 5.3-inch touchscreen and is powered by a dual-core processor. This smartphone runs on latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS. It has an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 3-megapixel front camera.
The company has not confirmed specifications of the announced device — such as screen resolution or battery life. However, it has confirmed that the X5 will be coming to Europe as well as China and is expected to go on sale in France this summer before launching across the rest of the continent.
The UMeox X5 is thinner than Huawei’s the Ascend P6 but the latter smartphone has more under the hood, namely a quad-core processor, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera to complement its 8-megapixel rear-facing unit.Moreover, the Huawei is established brand in the world and its recent the Ascend P6 is getting rave reviews worldwide. On the contrary, UMeox Mobile is comparatively a new entrant and will have to pass many hurdles to get some footage in highly competitive smartphone market.
