Sony has expanded the portfolio of its Xperia range of smartphone, and announced today two new smartphones. These two smartphones are- mid range Xperia E1, and Xperia T2 Ultra phablet. Both of these devices will be available in single SIM and dual-SIM variants.
The Sony Xperia T2 Ultra sports a 6-inch HD TRILUMINOS display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2, with a resolution of 720×1080 pixels, and runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out-of-the-box. This phablet is powered by a quad-core 1.4GHz Snapdragon processor with 1GB of RAM. It has 8GB of inbuilt storage, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card. The phablet is equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera with Exmor RS for mobile and also has a 1.1-megapixel front-facing camera with an Exmor R sensor. The Xperia T2 Ultra is packed with a 3000mAh battery with STAMINA Mode.
Commenting on the launch, Mr. Calum MacDougall, Director of Xperia Marketing at Sony Mobile Communications, said “Xperia T2 Ultra will lead the category through its combination of advanced display and camera technologies, it will bring large-screen entertainment in an amazingly portable form factor and it will do it all whilst providing incredible value for money.”
The Sony Xperia E1 sports a 4-inch WVGA display with a resolution of 480×800 pixels, and is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor. It has 512MB of RAM, and comes with 4GB of inbuilt storage. Sony has not mentioned about expandable storage support, and the details of the shooters. This smartphone is packed with a 1700mAh battery and comes with 3G connectivity support. The Xperia E1 will be available in Black, Purple and White. The Xperia E1 includes 100Db speaker to produce a louder, cleaner sound that can hold its own in any environment. This smartphone runs Android OS, but Sony has not detailed the version of Android OS.
“Xperia E1 combines the best of Sony’s audio technologies with a premium design and great hardware to create a smartphone for people who want to express themselves out loud.” said Calum MacDougall, Director of Xperia Marketing at Sony Mobile Communications, on the occasion of the announcement. “It’s a new, music focused player in our Xperia line-up that is underpinned by the best of Sony’s design, display and content offers.”
Sony has not revealed the price and availability details of the announced smartphones. As is normal, these details will be known close on the heels of their commercail launches.
