Of late HTC of Taiwan is getting aggressive. After announcing its flagship new HTC One M8, which will arrive in India in the third week of April, HTC has launched today its entry-level HTC Desire 310 smartphone at an affordable price of Rs. 11,700.
The HTC Desire 310 features a 4.5-inch display with a FWVGA resolution of 480×854 pixels, and is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582M chipset, coupled with 512MB of RAM. The 4GB of built-in storage can be expandaed up to 32GB via microSD card. The dual SIM (GSM + GSM) device is equipped with a 5-megapixel rear camera and is capable of doing full-HD video recording. It also has a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera.
The HTC Desire 310 runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, and also features BlinkFeed and Video Highlights. HTC’s renowned BlinkFeed home screen, which was first introduced with the HTC One, now gives you the opportunity to get the up-to-the-minute news and social updates direct on your home screens. You can get updates from your favourite news and social sites including Twitter, Facebook and China’s Sina Weibo, which are displayed in crisp detail and rich colour, making the information easy to digest whenever you glance at your phone.
For connectivity, it supports Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, microUSB, EDGE, GPS, and 3G. It has a weight of 140 grams, and measures 131.44×68.03×11.25mm. The device is also packed with a removable Li-Po 2000mAh battery.
Commenting on the launch, Faisal Siddiqui, Country Head, HTC India said, “Everybody today wants a smartphone that can keep up with them, regardless of whether it is a flagship or entry-level model. The latest addition to our renowned Desire range combines super-fast processing and premium features at a lower price, offering users the best possible experience in this category.”
This is a smart move by HTC to offer affordable smartphone, which has a huge market in India. This is the reason that smartphones in the range of Rs. 10K to 13K are selling like hot cakes in India. The latest example is Moto G, which is going from strength to strength.
