LG had announced at MWC that Knock Code feature would be a key feature in its Key smartphone models this year, including G Pro 2, G2 mini, F Series and newly announced L-Series III Android KitKat OS based phones namely L90 and L70. LG has already started providing Knock Code on earlier LG smartphone models via a firmware.
KnockOn, which LG patented in 2008, was the perfect foundation to further develop Knock Code, which is unique in its ability to both wake and unlock the phone in one step, a clear time-saver for users. Knock Code is advanced version of KnockON feature that was first unveiled last year in the LG G2. Knock Code allows users to power on and unlock their latest LG smartphones in one easy step by tapping their screens using one of 86,367 “knock” combinations. Post the launch of LG’s Knock-On feature, this pattern-unlock mechanism of KNOCK CODE is continuation effort to unlock LG smartphone without picking it up, which is safe and convenient.
According to LG, Knock Code security feature enable the smartphone display to be divided into four invisible quadrants. The user taps or “knocks” anywhere from two to eight times in the quadrants in a specific sequence. With more than 80,000 possible combinations and no fingerprint streaks, Knock Code offers a level of security far greater than other devices, even those with fingerprint recognition systems. And because Knock Code can be implemented anywhere on the screen in any size without having to view the screen, there’s no chance of password theft. In addition to being safer and more convenient, Knock Code is also claimed to be more responsive compared to bio-recognition systems, which are much more susceptible to variations in the environment. The KNOCK CODE does not have the probability of replication or exposure as there is no visual hint to the CODE. The ease of use of the KNOCK CODE is defined by the fact that it works on the entire screen and its recognition rate is consistent.
With KNOCK CODE, LG aims to be different from the competition by defining its unique smartphone unlocking system and lead the way in the smartphone market.
