Samsung has expanded its portfolio of low-end 4G enabled smartphones and launched today upgraded version of Galaxy J2 2015, known as Galaxy J2 (2016). The new Galaxy J2 (2016) is priced Rs. 9,750 and will start selling in India from 14th July via all offline and online channels. It will be available in black, silver, and gold colors. It will come with offer of a six months double data offer from Airtel for prepaid consumers.
The USP of Galaxy J2 (2016) is that it incorporates Turbo Speed Technology and Smart Glow features. Nowadays, it has become a trend to equip the smartphones with 3GB to 6GB RAM for faster performance and this issue of RAM management has been addressed by Samsung with Turbo Speed Technology (TST). This technology help the smartphone to load native apps 40% faster compared to those devices having double the RAM. Samsung has made native apps such as camera, gallery, and contacts, etc very light that are most frequently used by consumers so that the minimum time is taken to load them. It also shuts down idle processes running in the background and declutters RAM. This eliminates the need to have bigger RAM and also make the device perform faster and without any lags.
The other prominent feature of new J2 is that it comes with color LED notification system which Samsung calls Smart Glow. It consists of an LED ring around the rear camera which can be customized for up to four alerts of different applications and whenever the user will receive the alert from them, the LED will glow in the color selected by the user. Moreover, the Smart Glow LED ring can be used to take selfies with rear camera having greater mega pixels compared to front camera with the Selfie Assist feature. Smart Glow features will also alert a users about status of battery, internal memory and mobile data.
From the hardware perspective, the new J2 comes with 5 inch HD Super AMOLED screen (720×1280 pixels). It is packed with 1.5 GHz Quad Core processor combined with 1.5 GB RAM and 8GB of internal storage which can be extended upto 128GB via microSD card.
It is packed with 2600mAh battery which is bigger than earlier version and runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0 OS. This is Dual-SIM device and is equipped with 8 mega-pixel rear camera and also houses a 5 mega-pixel front camera. Both the cameras have an f 2.2 aperture.
This phone also come with S bike mode useful for two-wheelers rider and Ultra Data Saving mode, which is claimed to provides up to 50% mobile data savings by blocking unnecessary background applications from consuming data.
This phone offers connectivity options of 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.1, USB 2.0, GPS , Glonass, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n 2.4GHz, Wi-Fi Direct. It is a slim device having thickness of 8mm.
