Chinese handsets maker, Coolpad which has got very good traction in the Indian market with its Coolpad Note 3 range of affordable phones, has launched today yet another budget phone – Coolpad Mega 2.5D. This phone is also being touted as selfie-centric device as it comes with powerful front camera. This phone is priced Rs. 6,999 and will start selling exclusively on Amazon.in. The registration for this phone has started today on Amazon. This phone has metal design and will be available in gold and white colors.
The Coolpad Mega 2.5D incorporates an 8MP front camera for clicking selfies with f/2.2 aperture and 83.6 degree field of view, wide-angle lens and also has features of smart beautification mode. This phone also has 8MP rear camera which has f/2.0 aperture, LED flash and Sony Sensor. This is Dual-SIM phone and comes with hybrid slot for supporting two 4G SIMs or one SIM and one microSD card.
This phone comes with a 5.5-inch IPS LCD HD (1280×720 pixels, pixel density 294ppi) display with 2.5D curved glass. It is packed with 1GHz MediaTek MT6735P 64-bit quad-core processor with Mali T720 GPU combined with 3GB RAM and 16GB internal storage, which can be expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card. It gets its juice from 2500mAh battery which is claimed to offer 9 hours of talk time and 200 hours of standby time.
This phone runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0 with Cool UI 8.0 on top. The UI of Coolpad has many cool fetures such as various themes, smart pattern unlock to name a few. This phone does not have fingerprint sensor.
This phone offers connectivity options of 4G LTE (VoLTE ready), Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, A-GPS, and Bluetooth 4.0, MicroUSB 2.0 and 3.5 mm audio jack. This is sleek and light weight phone having thickness of 7.85mm and weight of 140grams.
According to Syed Tajuddin, CEO, Coolpad India, “In the initial phase, the first batch of Coolpad Mega phones will be imported from China and later they will be manufactured in India under our Make in India initiative. We are confident that we will sell 50K phones in our first flash sale on 24 August, 2016. We will continue in our endeavor to bring customized smart devices to the Indian consumers and will be surprising our customers with a disruptive product before Diwali this year”
