At an event in Bengaluru, OnePlus today launched the OnePlus 15R. This phone will be available across India, Europe and North America. This phone is the second in the OnePlus 15 Series, and is the first phone launching globally to feature the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Mobile Platform.
Performance
OnePlus 15R is driven by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 mobile platform, which is claimed to have 36% faster CPU speeds, 11% faster GPU speeds and 46% better AI performance than the previous generation chipset. OnePlus 15R also features LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and UFS 4.1 ROM for blistering fast speeds. OnePlus 15R is packed with 7,400 mAh battery with 80W SUPERVOOC fast charging technology.
This phone comes with a 360-degree Cryo Velocity Cooling System, covering every area from front to back. This starts with the Cryo Velocity Screen Cooler, just under the display, which uses aerogel – the lightest solid on earth – to give OnePlus 15R’s display excellent thermal protection from heat generated inside the phone.
Its Cryo Velocity 3D Vapor Chamber is built with a proprietary design specifically created to cool high end processors, measuring 5,704mm². This features a range of materials, including hand-tearable steel in an industry first, to dissipate huge levels of heat. Finally, OnePlus 15R’s Cryo Velocity Back Cover features a layer of graphite across the lower half of the phone to give that extra bit of cooling across its chassis.
Display
OnePlus 15R flaunts a 6.83 inch, 165Hz LTPS 1.5K AMOLED display, featuring 450 pixels per inch with upto 1800 nits of brightness and as low as 1 nit with Reduce White Point activated. The display is paired with an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, for rapid unlocking, and a dedicated Touch Response Chip to ensure OnePlus’s highest refresh rate screen is also its most sensitive, featuring an industry-leading instant touch sampling rate of 3200Hz for super smooth scrolling.
Design
This phone includes new rounder corners and a smooth transition to the device’s mid-frame as well as a redesigned camera bump to cut down on fatigue when holding the device for an extended period of time. OnePlus 15R is available in Charcoal Black, Mint Breeze colors. Both Charcoal Black and Mint Breeze colourways feature Velvet Glass technology to make sure they feel great in your hand. Meanwhile, in India, the OnePlus 15R is also available in Electric Violet, built from fiberglass which uses a special coating to imprint the word Ace deep in the design, perfect for every ace gamer.
OnePlus 15R is covered by four separate IP ratings – IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K – for serious protection from the elements.
Camera
OnePlus 15R is armed with a 32 megapixel selfie camera with autofocus and a 50 megapixel main camera, the same IMX906 sensor found on OnePlus 15, and an 8 megapixel ultra wide sensor with a 112 degrees field of view.
This hardware is combined with powerful software, including the new OnePlus DetailMax Engine found in OnePlus 15, to create incredible results. All three DetailMax Engine technologies from OnePlus 15 – Ultra Clear Mode, Clear Burst and the Clear Night Engine – are also present in OnePlus 15R, meaning amazing results whether you’re capturing day, night or motion shots. OnePlus 15R can also record 4K video at up to 120 frames per second and then go on to edit the footage directly on the device, meaning capturing glorious action videos are now easier than ever. OnePlus 15R is the first smartphone launched in the price range to offer 4K 120fps video recording, as certified by Counterpoint Research’s Monthly India Smartphone Tracker.
OS
This phone runs on OxygenOS 16 with OnePlus AI and Google Gemini. The AI experience is centered around Plus Mind. By pressing the dedicated Plus Key or swiping up with three fingers, users can instantly save any on-screen content to a unified Mind Space knowledge base. In addition, Google Gemini can now connect with Mind Space to pull information and provide personalized suggestions based on what you’ve saved – all in a single prompt. For example, you can ask for help with creating travel itineraries and Gemini will connect with Mind Space to generate an itinerary that is personalized and based on the user’s own stored data.

The interface features seamless motion animations that provide visual previews of transitions, creating a naturally responsive feel. The Dual App Control feature enables simultaneous operation of two applications on a single screen, significantly enhancing productivity.
