As expected, Apple has launched its new range of iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus at an event in US at starting price of US$ 649 and goes upto $769. These new phones will go on pre-order on 9th September in US and in few ohter countries and the shipping will start on 16th September. In India, these phones will start selling from 7th October for the base model.
These phone will be available in silver, gold, rose gold and the new black finish in 32GB, 128GB and 256GB models and the newly introduced jet black finish color will be available for the 128GB and 256GB models.
Apple has also done slight change in the design of iPhone 7. It has more rounded edges and the antenna lines are on the sides of the phones compared to running on the top and bottom of the back panel in iPhone 6 which now gives a cleaner look. The new phones are water and dust resistant with IP67 certified rating. The new home button on these phones which incorporates the Touch ID fingerprint scanner embedded into it, is now more durable and responsive as it comes with Taptic Engine.
The iPhone 7 features a 4.7 inch Retina display with resolution of 1334 x 750 pixels and iPhone 7 Plus sports a 5.5 inch Retina display with resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Both the variants are packed with quad-core A10 Fusion chipset which is claimed to be twice as fast as the A8 chipset. The new range of iPhones run on the latest iOS 10.
One of the major highlights of new iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are its imaging prowess. These phones are equipped with 12-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization, larger ƒ/1.8 aperture and 6-element lens. Moreover, the iPhone 7 Plus has Dual Camera set-up with the same 12-megapixel wide angle camera as iPhone 7 plus another 12-megapixel camera with telephoto lens with 2xoptical zoom and up to 10 times digital zoom for photos and new depth-of-field effect. Both the variants also houses a 7MP FaceTime HD camera for selfies.
Apple has not specified the battery life of the new iPhones but claims that they are more powerful compared to its predecessors.
As rumored, Apple has removed the 3.5 mm headphone jack in the iPhone 7 and introduced a lightning connector port that doubles up for charging. The new iPhones comes with EarPods with Lightning connector for better sound, as well as a 3.5 mm headphone jack adapter that allows customers to use old headphones and accessories. These new phone also boast of stereo speakers for delivering immersive sound that is two times louder than iPhone 6s. Apple has also introduced a new wireless earphones, the Apple Airpods priced at $159 which will be available by end of October.
