Sell in India is the new mantra adopted by Chinese handsets makers. All the Chinese companies in the business of smartphones are heading for India to sell their wares. To try its luck in India, another Chinese company Phicomm is all set to debut in India on 3rd June with the launch of its first smartphone – Passion 660, which is mid-range device and will work on Indian 4G networks.
The Passion features a 5 inch LCD display with 1920×1020 pixels. It is driven by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615, octa-core, 1.5 GHz processor, coupled with 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, which can be expanded upto 32GB via microSD card. This phone is equipped with 13MP rear camera with LED flash and 5MP front camera for selfies. This phone is fuelled by a 2300mAh battery and runs on jaded Android KitKat OS.
As per the common practice adopted by the majoirty of Chinese brands in India, the Passion 660 is also expected to be sold exclsuively via e-commerce. In order to establish itself in India, this phone is also speculated to be priced around Rs. 10,000.
Recently, we have seen arrival of two Chinese brands in India, Meizu and Nubia, which have also launched their mid-range smartphones in the range of Rs. 12,000 to 17,000. The other Chinese brands such as Lenovo, Huawei, Gionee, Xiaomi, Oppo etc. are going strong in India and this new entrant will try its best to establish its footprint in India.
The invasion of Chinese smartphones is not good news for Indian brands such as Micrromax, Lava, Karbonn, Intex etc., as these brands are also sourcing their products from China and the mid-range battle will become more intense now. You never know when the other Chinese brands will head towards lucrative Indian market.
