The top of the range ZenFone 2 Deluxe has same features which are available on ZenFone 2 launched in India in April this year. The only significant change made is back cover to make it look diferent. According to the company, the back panel has a 3D diamond cut design which has a very unique feel and and comfortable grip in the hand. When the light reflects on this cover, the shade of it changes and gives it crystal effect. Depending upon one’s taste, this may prove to be plus point for this phone. Rest of the design of Deluxe variant is same as of ZenFone 2. Infact, if you fix back panel of Deluxe on ZenFone 2, nobody can distinguish the difference and hence Asus will not sell new designed back panel if they want to push the sale of their Deluxe variant.

Rest of the features are same except that ZenFone 2 Deluxe runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop OS with a new version of Asus ZenUI on top of it, which has many additional features. The new Zen UI interface is quite smooth and its icons are pleasing to eye. Moreover, more themes have been added for downloading from the dedicated Themes app.

Like ZenFone 2, the Deluxe variant also has 4GB RAM, which was promoted as the first smartphone especially in mid-range segment to have 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage. But, now the scenario has changed and only few days ago, the One Plus 2 was also launched with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage, and is competitvely priced.

The ZenFone 2 Deluxe also sports a 5.5-inch HD display with a resolution of 1920×1080-pixels, having a pixel density of 403ppi with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection for prevention of scratches. Its screen has wide viewing angles, images look crisp and colors are bright and vibrant. Most importantly, the display work quite efficiently under the direct sunlight.

The ZenFone 2 Deluxe is also equipped with 13MP rear-facing camera with f/2.0-aperture, 5-element, auto-focus lens with dual-color Real Tone flash, and also houses 5MP front-facing cameras with f/2.0-aperture, wide-angle 85-degree lens with Selfie Panorama. This camera encompasses PixelMaster 2.0 technology, which incorporates a wide range of enhancements, including Low Light mode on both the rear and front cameras, allowing users to capture up to 400% brighter photos and videos at night or in dimly lit scenes. We reproduce below few images clicked with ZenFone 2 Deluxe:

The ZenFone 2 Deluxe also gets its juice from poweful 3000mAh battery which is good enough to last full day depending upon the usuage. With its BoostMaster technology, it enables 2X faster charging, letting users charge ZenFone 2 from from 0% to 60% in just 39 minutes and this feature is quite useful in critical situations. This feature is not found on majority of mid-segment smartphones and is a huge plus for ZenFone 2 series. Even, recently unveiled One Plus 2 does not have this feature.

The Deluxe variant is driven by 64-bit Quad Core Intel Atom Z3580 processor with a clock speed of 2.3Ghz, and this proessor has amazing speed, which can be compared with Snapdragon powered flagship devices. You can run apps, switch apps and play games without any hiccups. Intel will definitely get boost for its processors with the zipping fast speed achieved on ZenFone 2 and Deluxe variant.

The ZenFone 2 Deluxe has all the capabilities available on ZenFone 2. For repetition sake, it is alo compatible with 4G LTE networks and its call quality is quite good.

If you are planning to buy mid-segment smartphone then you can definitely consider ZenFone 2 Deluxe if you want designer back cover. This phone will be officailly launched in India on 6th August and is expected to be in the range of Rs. 24,000. This phone will compete with One Plus 2 which will start selling in India from 11th August by invite system whereas Asus phones will be available freely on Flipkart, which is again a plus point and the consumers will be able to purchase it without the stress of getting invites.
