BlackBerry Z3 To Be Launched In India On 25th June

The struggling Canada based BlackBerry is set to launch its latest out-sourced smartphone – BlackBerry Z3 in India on 25th June. BlackBerry has started sending out media alerts to block the date for 25th June to ” witness the unveiling of the next generation BlackBerry device.”

BlackBerry Z3 was launched in Indonesia in the month of May and incidentally is the first device which the Canadian firm is getting manufactured from Taiwanese tech giant Foxconn, which also manufacture gadgets for Apple.

The Z3 has a mediocre hardware features. It sports a 5-inch touchscreen with 540×960 resolution. The Z3 runs on BlackBerry OS 10.2.1, and is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, coupled with 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, which can be expanded upto 32GB via microSD card. This smartphone is equipped with a 5MP rear camera with 1080p video recording and a 1.1MP front-facing camera. The Z3 is packed with a 2,500mAh non-removable battery, which is claimed to provide up to 15.5 hours talk time and upto16.2 days standby time.

The Z3 comes pre-loaded with BlackBerry’s popular BBM messaging service and for connectivity, this smartphone supports GSM,GRPS/EDGE, Wi-Fi,Bluetooth and GPS.

BlackBerry has targetted the Z3 for the emerging markets and is reported to be selling in Indonesia around US$ 170. What will be its price in India? Keeping the current scenario in India, this phone will face stiff competition from Micromax’s Windows Win W121, which was launched yesterday and is priced at Rs. 9,500, and Moto G and Moto E, which are selling like hot cakes and are running on the latest Android KitKat OS.

In order to get some leverage in the Indian market, BlackBerry Z3 should be priced very aggressively and in our opinion, it should be in the range of Rs. 8,000 otherwise it will be very difficult to move the boxes in good numbers.
