India is a good hunting ground for Chinese smartphones. After stupendous success achieved by many Chinese brands such as Lenovo, Huawei, Oppo, Gionee, and of late Xiaomi etc., it is now the turn of one more Chinese smartphone vendor Coolpad Dazen to start selling its smartphones in India. It is expected that affordable Coolpad Dazen smarphones will be sold only through online channels. Coolpad Dazen smartphones are expected to debut in India by the end of this month.
Coolpad Dazen, based in China, was founded in 1993, and is claimed to be a leader in 4G/ LTE segment and one of the world’s fastest growing smartphone players and also the fastest growing online brand in China. As part of its commitment to ‘Make in India’ campaign, Coolpad Dazen is expected to set up a R&D centre and manufacturing unit in India. Coolpad Group globally is a holder of more than 6000 patents including dual sim, dual standby.
To make its journey successful in India, Coolpad Dazen has appointed Varun Sharma as the Chief Executive Officer who will be looking after the India operations. Prior to joining Coolpad Dazen, Varun was Director at Flipkart and led Flipkart’s strategic global partnerships. He has several years of experience in leading and building brands for P&G in India and South East Asia. Varun is an alumnus of IIM Calcutta.
