YU, the new online brand from Micromax, today announced the launch of its first and the much awaited device Yureka, through an exclusive partnership with Cyanogen Inc. Yureka is the first device from YU to be launched with Cyanogen OS, which will get exclusive OTA firmware updates and support in India.
The Yureka is compatible with Cat. 4 4G LTE network and has up to 150Mbps download speeds and 50Mbps upload speeds, apart from Band 40 and Band 3 support.
The Yureka will be available in Moonstone finish exclusively on Amazon.in and the registration will start on 19th December at 2PM. It will start shipping in India in second week of January. The YU company is offering leather cover worth Rs. 999 free to those customers who would buy the smartphone in the first lot.
Cyanogen OS is built on Android 4.4.4 OS and is known for delivering a number of rich software advancements that optimize performance, customization, security, and privacy features on mobile devices. Cyanogen has promised an Android 5.0 Lollipop-based build in due course of time.
The Yureka smartphone supports Dual-SIM and features a 5.5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) IPS display with a pixel density of 267ppi and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It is powered by a 64-bit 1.5GHz octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor (MSM8939), coupled with Adreno 405 GPU and 2GB of RAM. It has internal storage of 16GB, which can be extended upto 32GB via microSD card.
The Yureka is equipped with a 13-megapixel Sony Exmor CMOS sensor rear autofocus camera with an f/2.2 aperture and flash. It also houses a 5-megapixel fixed-focus front camera for the selfies lovers. It is fuelled by a 2500mAh Li-Po battery, which is claimed to provide talk time up to 9 hours, standby time up to 310 hours and video playback time of up to six hours.
The Yureka measures 6/8.8×154.8×78 mm and for connectivity, it has options of 3G, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, Micro-USB, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
The Cyanogen OS has various features and some of them such as customisation, personalisation, security, performance were explained at the launch event in New Delhi. With customisations feature, the users will be able to modify icons and fonts etc. Cyanogen will be providing two free custom themes with this device. For privacy, the users will be able to edit and customise permissions of each app, and this phone has very useful feature of blackliting the spam callers. The camera of the smartphone comes with various apps and its slow motion functionality at @60fps will be increased to 120fps soon.
While launching the first device powered by Cyanogen OS, Rahul Sharma, Co-Founder of Micromax said that this device will be” giving the control in a user’s hand; to create their own world, make their device look the way they want to; a cooler world, a world dashed in their identity”.

YU company also announced first of its kind after sales service for its Yureka smartphone. They will be providing free replacement or repair” at the user’s doorstep.
