Hug Innovations, an Indian technology start-up, has recently launched its gesture controlled Hug Smartwatch. The innovative smartwatch is built on the Microsoft Azure platform and is designed to help users control their gadgets with motion of hands.
The Hug smartwatch is compatible with Android, iOS, Windows devices and can be paired with Bluetooth 4.0. This smartwatch will be available in the mid of first quater of 2016 and will have an approximate price tag of Rs. 8,000. This will be sold exclusively by Flipkart.
The Hug smartwatch enables interactive gestures using proprietary algorithms that fuse data from High Resolution 9 axis IMU (3Axis Accelerometer-3AxisGyroscope –3Axis Magnetometer) sensors. With a 1.6-inch, 240×240 pixels, Transflective LCD display protected by Asahi Glass, the watch runs on the Nucleus RTOS operating system, based on the MediaTek MT2502C system-on-chip which is smallest in design and optimized for power and performance. It comes with 2GB built-in storage and 128MB RAM.
This smatwatch is sleek and light weight having thickness of 11.2 mm and weight of just 46 grams.
According to the company, this is the first Gesture Controlled smartwatch in the world to integrate and enhance customer experience in Virtual Reality with the Oculus Rift. This watch enable users to make calls, track physical activity & nutrition, play music and find devices. It has security features such as an SOS button, continuous heart rate monitoring, fatigue detection ensuring personal safety for consumers. Safety can also be activated with a gesture based security feature which can also interpret a hand gesture as sign of trouble for situations. With this watch, consumers can now do simple tasks like playing their favorite music, dimming room lights, surfing videos online, among others all with just a simple hand gesture.
