Gionee of China has ambitious plans for India and their smartphones are getting rave reviews from the market. After successfully launching ELife E7 smartphone in India in December, Gionee is now ready to bring its latest flagship smartphone Elife S5.5, which is just 5.5 mm thick and claimed to be the world’s slimmest smartphone. According to Gionee, Gionee S5.5 is so thin that it could cut through your hand. The Gionee ELife S5.5 was unveiled in February in China and subsequently showcased at Mobile World Congress. It is now heading for India where Gionee has been successful to build its considerable brand value in short span of time. The Elife E7 smartphone introduced by Gionee in December 2013 is a good value for money smartphone.
As far as the slimmest Elife S5.5 is concerned, it features a 5 inches Full HD Super AMOLED screen, and is driven by Octa-core 1.7GHz processor, coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory. It is equipped with a 13 megapixel rear camera with 95 degree ultra-wide angle, and 5 megapixel front camera. This single SIM smartphone is fuelled by a non-removable 2300 mAh Battery.
The ELife S5.5 runs the company’s Amigo UI on top of Android Jelly Bean 4.2 OS.The Elife S5.5 comes with the camera software, which is similar to the flagship ELIFE E7, and which consists of two shooting modes, the professional and normal camera settings, as well as the availability of the “Charm Camera” which includes auto make-up mode, footprint mode, and meeting memo mode features.
The ELife S5.5 will be available in Black, White, Blue, Pink, and Purple colors. As far as its price is concerned, Gionee has not disclsoed the same so far, but in our estimate this will sell for around Rs. 24,500 in India. We have assumed this price keeping inview of the fact that S5.5 is expected to retail in China for $ 370.
