Gionee Launches 4.65″ inch Android Dual-SIM Dream-D1 Smartphone In India

Chinese company Gionee has announced its arrival in the Indian smartphone market by launching its Dream D1 smartphone in India for Rs. 17,999. This smartphone was scheduled to be launched by the end of February, but due to logistic reasons the launch was delayed by few days.

The ultra slim D1 at 8.6 mm is powered by 1.2 GHz Quad Core Processor, alongwith a 16 GB Memory card and an in-built 4 GB memory. . This smartphone sports 4.65 inch HD Super AMOLED Plus display with 316 PPi screen resolution , advance scratch resistant Corning Gorilla Glass 2 and super smooth multi – touch interface, and runs Android OS v4.1 Jelly Bean.

Dream-D1 has an 8 Mega Pixel Auto Focus, Auto panorama (99 pictures in one click) with LED flash back camera. Additional features like face detection enable a superior picture capturing experience. The camera experience is further enhanced with HD Video recording option and a 1 Mega Pixel Front facing camera.

The Dual Sim, Dual Standby Dream-D1 is powered by a 2100 mAh battery to provide an exceptional backup. With an in-built Digital Theatre System (DTS) Sound Dream-D1 guarantees to deliver breathtaking multimedia experience.

The OTA (Over the Air) function allows for software upgrades ensuring your Smart Phone stays SMART with the latest Operating System.

Gionee Dream-D1 will be available in Graphite Black color, at leading mobile retail outlets across the country in the second half of March 2013.

Gionee Dream D1 is another phablet to hit the Indian market this year. Its success will depend upon its performance and after sales service, as Gionee is new entrant in the already highly crowded and price-conscious Indian market, where Indian handsets makers like Micromax, Lava etc. have firmed up their position in budjet smartphones segment. To our opinion, the Dream D1 is very highly priced and should face stiff competition from Micromax A116 Convas HD samrtphone, which is priced Rs.13,990. The Dream D1 should have been priced around Rs. 10K to make its significant impact in India!
