HTC of Taiwan has unveiled its latest flagship smartphone HTC One M9 on the eve of MWC in Barcelona. The new HTC One M9 is on expected lines and can be dubbed as improved version of its earlier highly successful HTC One M8, introduced last year. The major difference in M9 is its improved rear camera capabilites.
The HTC One M9 rear camera has been upgraded from the last year’s flagship M8. The M8 comes with 4 MP “Ultra Pixel” sensor whereas the new M9 is equipped with a 20 MP rear camea with BSI sensor, f/2.2 aperture, dual-LED flash, and 4K video recording. The front camera remains the same as of earlier version, which is 4 MP UltraPixel with a wide angle (26.8mm).
Like M8, the new One M9 also features the 5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display, and is now protected by Gorilla Glass 4. It is powered by a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core (quad-core 2GHz + quad-core 1.5GHz) processor coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which can be expanded upto 128GB with the help of microSD card.
The HTC M9 runs Android 5.0 Lollipop with HTC’s brand new Sense 7 UI superimposed on it, which enables it to know its location and adapt accordingly. At home, for instance, you might get easy access to Netflix and Facebook. At the train station, you might get suggestions for transit apps.
The M9 is packed with 2840 mAh battery compared to 2600mAh of M8. The M9 measures 144.6 x 69.7 x 9.61 mm and weighs 157g compared to 160 grams weight of M8.
The M9 has connectifvity options of Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, NFC, GLONASS, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB, GPRS/ EDGE, 3G, and LTE.
The M9 is also equipped with dual front-facing stereo speakers with HTC Boom Sound, and Dolby Stereo surround sound to enhance movie viewing/listening.
Like M8, the new M9 also has an all-metal unibody design. The new M9 will be available in dual tone Silver and Rose Gold, single-tone Gunmetal Grey, single tone Gold, and dual tone Gold and Pink colours. It will start selling in global markets from the month of March.
