At an event in New Delhi, Taiwan based HTC launched its flagship smartphone HTC One M9+. This smartphone is priced at Rs. 52,500 and will go on sale in India on 3rd May. Surprisingly, we were expecting launch of HTC One M9. The M9+ has more features compared to M9.
Compared to 5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display of M9, the HTC One M9+ features a 5.2-inch Quad HD (1440×2560 pixels) display. It is powered by a MediaTek helio X10, 2.2 GHz Octa-Core processor, coupled with 3GB of RAM. It has inbuilt storage of 32GB, which is further expandable to UPTO 2TB by a microSD card.
The other salient feature of HTC One M9+ is its fingerprint sensor that is located on the front of the phone, which the company claims will also support biometric authentication for the AliPay payment system in China. But India is not ready yet for payment authentication ssytem.
The M9+ runs on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop OS with HTC Sense 7 UI on top. It is packed with a 2840 mAh battery.
HTC One M9+ is equipped with 20 MP Duo Camera with auto-focus, sapphire cover lens that protects it from scratches, BSI sensor, ƒ2.2, 2.78 cm (1.09 inch) lens, and is capable of 4K video recording. It also boasts of HTC UltraPixel front camera with BSI sensor, ƒ2.0, 2.68 cm (1.05 inch) lens which can perform 1080p HD video recording.
The 9+ camera incorporate depth sensor technology which captures detailed depth information from a scene and enables you to select the point of focus, thus allowing you to create professional-looking portraits with UFocus. With Copy & Paste feature, allows you to paste a person from one photo to another and Dimension Plus presents a unique perspective on your photos by letting you view your photos from a different angle by simply tilting the screen, giving you a 3D experience.
You can take low-light shots with the new and improved HTC UltraPixel front-facing selfie camera with dynamic auto exposure, which is claimed to deliver sharper, more natural and balanced self-portraits in any lighting conditions.
The HTC One M9+ is audio marvel as well. It has lethal combination of HTC BoomSound and Dolby Audio Surround system. The HTC’s iconic dual front-facing speakers, now combines with 5.1 channel Dolby Audio surround which delivers extraordinary, multidimensional cinematic listening. You can enjoy movies on this device with theatre-like sound even without connecting headphones or external speakers.
The M9+ has all-metal unibody design and its metal edges has graceful curves, which provides it a jewellery-grade look. It has dual-tone silver and rose gold finish, which is an industry first, and is not only distinctive but also durable.
For connectivity, the M9+ offers options of 4G LTE (FDD: Bands 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 28) & (TDD: Bands 38, 39, 40, 41), NFC, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac ,DLNA, HDMI MHL 2.0 etc. It has dimensions of 5.94 x 2.83 x 0.37 inch and weighs 168 grams.
HTC One M9+ will be available in Gold on Silver and Gold on Gold color variants. HTC’s One M9+ will come with one-year insurance package that will compensate consumers for any accidental or liquid damages. This package will also includes a pick-up and drop service for all insurance related matters. Moreover, the buyers of M9+ will also get discount vouchers worth INR 15,000 from the reputed fashion and lifestyle portal Myntra.com.
The HTC One M9+ will face competition from recently launched Samsung Galaxy S6 and upcoming LG G4 smartphones, which is being launched by the end of this month.
