Huawei India Join Hands With SOS Children’s Village To Support Child Education & Welfare

Chinese giant Huawei has joined hands with the leading Indian NGO,  SOS Children’s Villages India to support education and child welfare under Daksha Programme. Under this programme, Huawei India will connect with 982 children to support quality education for children living in 10 SOS of India across Maharashtra, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Telengana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

Besides above, Huawei India will also provide computers and internet facilities to 20 family homes in SOS Children’s Village in Greenfields, Faridabad (Haryana) to help them understand the digital world.

Mr. Jay Chen, CEO Huawei India said, “We believe that sustainable development is possible only when organizations align their corporate goals to the development goals of communities. At Huawei, we are committed to giving back to the community where we operate in. The Daksha initiative will be an umbrella program under which we aim to support children and students—our future resource, with holistic development and adequate digital literacy in line with the vision laid down by the Government of India”.

Huawei has also established a CSR Committee and CSR Executive Team to ensure that its CSR strategy is effectively implemented, including technical planning, implementation, and supervision in line with company’s global ethos as well as Government of India’s guidelines, as stated by the company in its press statement.

According to Huawei, they are a proud member of the UN Global Compact and is committed to fulfilling its responsibilities as a good corporate citizen. The Daksha CSR program also provides for support of mid-day meal for over 15,000 children and kitchen upgrade programs; partnering with three Engineering Universities to set-up Innovation Labs in the areas of SDN/NFV, IoT and Big Data to promote skill development in future-oriented technologies; provide scholarship support to 80 engineering students to support higher education.

Additionally, Huawei’s e-Hope program also works to distribute Computers & Tablets in Government Schools across India. Huawei’s community development program in Bangalore has initiated to construct toilets in government schools, and drinking water projects in villages, adds the statement of the company.
