At an event in London, Huawei of China launched two-high end smartphones – P9 and P9 Plus. One of the major highlights of both the flagship phones are that they are equipped with a Dual 12 megapixel rear camera with Leica SUMMARIT lenses of legendary camera maker Leica of Germany, 1.25-micron pixel sizes for better low light performance, and a wide F/1.1 aperture.
The RGB camera on the P9 specializes in capturing color, while the monochrome camera is for capturing black and white images of superior quality. The two rear cameras of the P9 work in tandem to enable users to create images of superior detail, depth and color. Packed with Hybrid Focus technology of Huawei, the P9 and P9 Plus captures images with superior speed, accuracy and stability.
There is also a laser focusing module on the back, optical image stabilization for smooth video capture, and a dual-tone LED flash. The phone comes with an 8 megapixel camera on the front for selfie enthusiasts.
As far as other hardware specifications are concerned, the P9 and P9 Plus has different display, battery and storage sizes. Rest of the specifications are same. Both the phones have an elegant designs and are made of an aerospace-class aluminum, superior-grade 2.5D glass with diamond-cut edges rounded out by carefully balanced curvatures.
Huawei P9 features a 5.2 inch full-HD IPS LCD display whereas the Huawei P9 Plus sports a 5.5-inch full-HD Super Amoled display. Both the displays have 1080×1920 pixel resolution and incorporates Press Touch pressure-sensitive technology which debuted with the Mate S. The P9 will be available in 3GB RAM/ 32GB inbuilt storage and 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage variants whereas the P9 Plus will be available only in the 4GB/64GB variant. Both the phones feature a microSD card slot for getting additional space of upto 128GB.
The P9 is packed with 3000mAh battery, while the P9 Plus gets its juice from a 3400mAh battery. The P9 Plus also offers dual-IC Rapid Charge, giving users six hours of talk time with a 10-minute charge. Both the phones are powered by a HiSilicon Kirin 955 SoC (4 Cortex-A72 cores at 2.5GHz, 4 Cortex-A53 cores at 1.8GHz) with a Mali-T880 MP4 GPU, which is the most powerful graphics chip in a Huawei phone to date. Both the phone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with EMUI 4.1 on top.
Both the phones come equipped with enhanced fingerprint scanner on the back of the smartphones for easy reach and screen unlocking. The P9 and P9 Plus also come with new features including a virtual-triple-antenna architecture, designed for users who need robust and seamless connectivity to cellular and Wi-Fi networks.
Both the phones offer connectivity options of 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS and NFC. Both the phones have an infrared blaster on the front and a dual speaker setup. Both the handsets also come with a reversible USB Type-C connection.
The P9 weighs 144 grams, while the P9 Plus weighs 162 grams.
The Huawei P9 and P9 Plus will be available in various color options such as Ceramic White, Titanium Grey, Mystic Silver, Haze Gold, Prestige Gold, and Rose Gold depending on the markets.

These phones will go on sale on April 16th in Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, China, Czech Republic, Egypt, Denmark,Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Kuwait, Netherlands, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom. It is not clear when this phone will debut in India.
