Finland based Jolla has partnered with 3 Hong Kong to launch its new Jolla smartphone running its own Sailfish operating system (OS), in HongKong. Jolla is a new Finnish smartphone, based on the heritage of Meego, an open source operating system based on Android OS, which was formerly developed by Nokia team among others. The new smartphone with its button-less feature-rich operating system and Android application compatibility is now available in Hong Kong exclusively through 3 Hong Kong, the mobile telecommunications division of Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong Holdings Limited.
The price of Jolla smartphone is HK$ 2,888 (approx. Rs. 23,000).It is also available with various plans from 3 Hong Kong.
The Jolla smartphone has simple and bold Finnish smartphone design. Jolla smartphone has button-less, gesture-based user interface, and is designed for optimal use with just one hand, and claims to offer smooth multitasking features.
Jolla smartphone features a 4.5 inch IPS QHD display (960×540 pixels) with Gorilla Glass 2 protection, and is powered by a Qualcomm Dual Core 1.4Ghz processor, paired with 1GB RAM and 16GB internal storage, which has provision of further expansion. This smartphone is equipped with 8MP AF rear camera with LED flash and 2MP front camera. This smartphone is fuelled by a 2100mAh battery , which is rated to provide 9/10 hours of talk time on 3G networks.
Jolla smartphone is compatible with GSM/3G and 4G LTE networks. It measures 131x68x9.9 mm and weighs 141 grams. The Jolla smartphone supports Android applications as well as intuitive Sailfish OS apps.
The Jolla smartphone also introduces a previously unseen combination of hardware and software innovation, called “The Other Half”. By attaching specifically designed smart covers, the smartphone becomes alive and unique, utilising preset ambiences and functionalities, such as colors, fonts, sounds, profiles, and applications.
