It is season of big screen smartphones popularly known as phablet. After announcement of Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3 and Sony’s Xperia Z1 phablets, here comes one budjet phablet from the stable of Indian handset maker Lava International. Lava has expanded its portfolio of Iris series of smartphones and announced the launch of its Lava Iris 506Q smartphone for Rs. 10,999.
The Lava Iris 506Q sports a 5 inch QHD IPS screen(540 x 960 Pixels) with OGS display technology, and is powered by 1.2 Ghz quad core processor. This smartphone runs on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS. This smartphone is equipped with a 5MP rear camera with auto-focus and in-built flash that provides multiple camera options including panorama mode, smile detection to capture stunning photographs and a 0.3 MP front camera for 3G video calling. The Iris 506Q comes with 512MB of RAM, and 4GB of internal memory which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card. It is packed with a 2000mAh battery, which according to the company can give talktime upto 5.3 hours (2G) and 4 hours (3G), and has standby time of upto 230 hours.
The Iris 506Q is 3G enabled, has Bluetooth (v3.0) & Wi-Fi connectivity and also features Light, Proximity, Magnification and G sensor. It also supports localized services including Navigation powered by GPS/A-GPS. This smartphone is a dual-SIM capable with support for GSM+GSM.
The Iris 506q is FOTA upgradable which helps to update the handset’s software ‘over the air’, without connection to a PC or any other device.
