The leading Indian handsets maker Micromax has announced today that they will be rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop update for one of its most successful smartphone – the Micromax Unite 2 starting April 07, 2015. The company claims that it has sold over 1.5 million units of the Unite 2 since its launch last year, selling 3 units per minute. This makes it one of the top 5 bestselling mobile phone in the Indian handset industry.
According to Micromax, the update on Unite-2 will be rolled out via OTA (over the air) and users can follow a simple process to get the updates on their devices. When connected to the internet, users will get a notification on their handset wherein they can directly upgrade to the latest OS. Users can also check manually for the upgrade from the following path, Setting->about phone->software update.
Micromax Unite 2 is the world’s first smartphone which support 20 Indian regional languages besides English. The 20 Indian languages supported are : Hindi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Odia, Bengali, Assamese, Marathi, Nepali, Bodo, Dogri, Konkani, Kashmiri, Maithili, Manipuri, Sanskrit and Sindhi.
The Micromax Unite 2 comes with a 4.7-inch Bright Graph IPS display with a resolution of 800×480, and is poweredf by a 1.3GHz quad core processor, coupled with 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage which can be expanded upto 32GB via microSD card. This smartphone is equipped with a 5.0MP rear camera and a 2.0MP front camera. The camera also offers a number of features like beauty mode, live photo mode and panorama. The Unite 2 is packed with a 2000 mAh battery and for connectivity, it supports Bluetooth v4.0 and WiFi.
The new Unite 2 will now come pre-loaded with Android 5.0 Lollipop OS, and will be available across retail channels at a price point of Rs 6,299.
