Lenovo has launched today its latest Moto Z and Moto Z Play (shown above) modular smartphones with Moto Mods which were unveiled in IFA, 2016. Moto Z is priced Rs. 39,999 and Moto Z Play is priced Rs. 24,999. Both the smartphones will be available starting 17th October exclusively on Amazon.in and Flipkart.
The Moto Mods comprises of four products -JBL SoundBoost speaker, Hasselblad True Zoom camera, Instashare Projector and Incipio offGRID Power Pack. Moto Mods as detailed above can be magnetically attached to the rear panel of Moto Z and Moto Z play and will turn these phones to different devices altogeher.
By attaching the JBL SoundBoost to the phone, you can get powerful stereo sound. With the Moto Insta-Share Projector, you can turns your Moto Z of Moto Z Play into a 70-inch movie projector. With the Incipio offGRID Power Pack, one can isntantly adds up to 20 hours of life to your phone.
The Hasselblad True Zoom with10x optical zoom lets you capture detailed photos from a distance without reducing image resolution. The Xenon flash lights up your subject evenly, giving you crisp, blur-free pictures in any environment. Physical shutter and zoom controls on it makes capturing great shots very easy.
The company has also launched style shells for these phones and the prices of these devices and shells are given below and if bought with the phones then these prices are less compared to normal prices:

The Moto Z features a 5.5 inch Quad HD AMOLED display (2560×1440 piels, 535 ppi) with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protction. It is powered by Snapdragon 820 processor clocked at 1.8 GHz with Adreno 530 GPU combined with 4GB RAM and 64 GB of internal storage with microSD card support up to 2TB. It is packed with a 2600mAh battery, which is claimed to deliver up to 24 hours of mixed usage and with the TurboPower charger, 15 minutes of charging will give 7 hours of battery life.
It is mounted with bulging 13MP camera on the back with f/ 1.8 aperture, optical image stabilization (OIS), laser autofocus, zero shutter lag and dual LEDs. For selfies, it has 5MP camera with wide field of view and extra flash.
On the connectivity front, the Moto Z offers options of 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port for headphones, charging and data transfer. The 3.5mm headphone slot has been removed and to compensate it, the 3.5mm to USB-C headphone port adaptor has been included in the box.
The Moto Z Play comes with 5.5 inch Super AMOLED display (1080 x 1920pixels,
403 ppi). It is powered by Snapdragon 625 processor up to 2 GHz Octa-Core CPU with Adreno 506 GPU combined with 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal memory extendable to 2TB via microSD card support. It is packed with 3510 mAh which is claimed to deliver mixed usage up to 45 hours and with TurboPower charging, it can deliver up to 7 hours of power in 15 minutes of charging.
It is equipped with 16MP rear camera with f/ 2.0 aperture, Laser autofocus, Phase detection autofocus (PDAF), Zero Shutter Lag and dual LED flash. It also houses 5MP front camera with wide-Angle 85 degree lens and LED flash.
This phone also offers connectivity options of 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, 3.5mm headphone slot and USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer.
Both the smartphones run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Both are dual-SIM (Nano-SIM) supporting phones and come with Fingerprint Reader on the home button and also have water repellent nano-coating feature.The Moto Z will be available in Black with Lunar Grey trim and White with Fine Gold trim whereas the Moto Z Play will be available in Black with Silver trim and White with Fine Gold trim.
Going by the features and look of the phones, both the phones are priced well in India but the Moto Mods devices are little bit expensive, in our opinion.
