Motorola Moto 360 Smartwatch Could Be Killer Wearable Device

silver_metal_600_0000 (1)The Moto 360 smartwatch developed by Google and  running on Google’s Android Wear operating system, is set to be launched by the end of June this year, if rumor mills are to be believed. Based on various facts and events, it is also being speculated that this smartwatch will be priced in the range of $ 250.

Although its hardware specificationsa are not known at this time, yet we are of the view that Motorola will come out with powerful specifications to give tough fight to the existing devices in the market. Our confidence emerge fron the fact that of late, Motorola’s focus is on providing beautifully designed devices with convincing specifications at affordable prices. The latest smartphones introduced by Motorola – Moto G, Moto X and Moto E- are true testimony to its philosopy. Motorola would definitely carry forward this legacy to its first wearable device also.

Why Moto 360 would be smash hit? For following reasons :

1. Moto 360 smartwatch has an iconic design, which will feature a round face and is made of premium materials. This will also be available in a variety of styles. Moto 360 Really looks like a wearable watch unlike Samsung and Sony smartwatches, which have odd sizes and shapes.

2. Moto 360 will run on Google’s new Android Wear OS, which has been designed especially for wearable device. Only LG is the other company, which has announced that they will be introducing LG G smartwatch running Android Wear OS in the second quarter of 2014.

3. It is speculated that Moto 360 would be priced around $250, but we are of the firm opinion that it will carry a price tag between $ 200 to $220. Assuming that it is priced around $200 than its Indian price will be in the range of Rs. 14,000 to 15,000. This will  pose serious challenge to GEAR 2 smartwatches of Samsung, which has a price tag of Rs. 16,000 to Rs. 21,000. If Motorola gets more aggressive with its pricing in India the way they have done with Moto series of smartphones and keep the price in the range of Rs 10,000 to Rs. 12,000 then I shall be the first preson to buy it the day it is launched in India.

Moto 360 is expected to debut in India by the end of next month and shall be sold exclusively by the online retailer Flipkart.

Moto 360 smarwatch has one unique featutre as it  responds to your voice also. You are required to just say “Ok Google” to ask questions like who won a particular game or what time your flight leaves, or to get stuff done like scheduling an appointment, sending a text, setting an alarm or taking a note.  Moto 360 smartwatch has the capability to keep you on time and up to date without taking you out of the moment or distracting you. It will tell you what you need to know before you know you need it through subtle alerts and notifications. With just a twist of the wrist you can see who is emailing or calling, what time your next meeting is or a friend’s latest social post.

So far, smartwatches introduced by Samsung, Sony, Pebble etc, have not seen the desired traction despite the best effforts of these companies. By using the latest wearable Android OS and Motorola’s success with affordable devices, Smart 360 could be the first wearable device which would hit the market wih storm and decimate the competition.

Would you buy Moto 360 if it is priced in the range of Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 14,000? Please post your comments to analyse the mood of the prospective buyers.
